གཞས། ས་སྐྱ་ལེགས་བཤད།།

Song: The Elegant Sayings of Sakya Paṇḍita

མཁས་པ་སློབ་པའི་དུས་ན་སྡུག།

Khé pa lob pay dü na duk

བདེ་བར་སྡོད་ལ་མཁས་མི་སྲིད།།

Dé war dö la khé mi si

བདེ་བ་ཆུང་ལ་ཆགས་པ་དེས།།

Dé wa chung la chak pa dé

ཆེན་པོའི་བདེ་བ་ཐོབ་མི་སྲིད།།

Chen pö dé wa thob mi si

There is hardship when engaging in higher studies,

Those who live at ease cannot become learned;

By becoming attached to small pleasures

One cannot attain the joy of the great ones

དྲིན་ཆེན་ཕ་མའི་བཀའ་སློབ་དང།།

Drin chen pha may ka lob

བཟང་ངན་དཀར་ནག་ལས་འབྲས་དང།།

Sang ngen kar nak lé dré dang

ལས་འབྲས་ཚུལ་བཞིན་སྲུང་བ་ན།།

Lé dré tsül shin sung wa na

ང་ཡི་བསམ་པའི་དོན་ཀུན་གྲུབ་སོང།།

Nga yi sam pay dön kün drub song

The advice of one’s kind parents,

Right and wrong, good and bad, karma and its effects:

If you act according to these,

Then all my wishes will have been fulfilled

དྲིན་ཆེན་ཡབ་ཡུམ་གསུང་ཡས་ལ།།

Drin chen yab yum sung yé la

ཆུང་ནས་ཡ་རབས་གོམས་གཤིས་དགོས།།

Chung né ya rab gom shi gö

བྱམས་བརྩེ་འཆམ་མཐུན་བྱེད་རྒྱུ་དེ།།

Jam tsé cham thün ché gyu dé

དྲིན་ཆེན་ཡབ་ཡུམ་བསླབ་བྱ་ཡིན།།

Drin chen yab yum lab ja yin

As our kind parents have admonished us,

We must accustom ourselves to good behavior from a young age;

To act in a loving and friendly manner

Is the advice that our kind parents have given us.
