If you have education, you are a cherished Tibetan child .

If you have education, you are a treasured jewel of the snowlands.

If you have education, you are a master of the snow mountains.

If you have education, you are the holder of the golden throne.

If you have education, you are the refuge and protector of beings.

དེ་ཕྱིར་ཤེས་ཡོན་ཡོད་དགོས་བོད་པའི་བུ། །

If you lack education, your ethnicity is hollow and empty.

If you lack education, your country is impoverished.

Lacking education leaves your ancestral heritage barren.

དེ་ཕྱིར་ཤེས་ཡོན་སྦྱོང་དགོས་ཨ་མའི་བུ། །

If you lack education, there is no road to the future.

If you lack education, you are enslaved to others.

If you lack education, your life lacks direction.

For these reasons, you need to educate yourself, mother's son.

རྡོག་རྩ་གཅིག་སྒྲིལ་ཤེས་རིག་ལམ་དུ་འགྲོ། །

This knowledge is the blazing torch for beings.
