Note: This is a great song for the unique manner in which it celebrates the way of life of the drokpa (i.e. the nomad). The song is pretty straight-forward as far as translating it is concerned, however the phrasing for the oft-repeated phrase "གི་གངས་བྱུང་" (gi kang chung) was difficult to render in English. After playing around with a couple of options, I have chose to translate it literally as "a snow of (something) appeared"; it is clear however that this is supposed to be a metaphor and so I think simply translating it literally will help the listener to connect more directly with the Tibetan manner of phrasing here.

[1] The fifth buddha is said to be Maitreya, the future buddha as predicted by buddha Shakyamuni. Therefore, this line of praise is placing the Seventeenth Karmapa in a similar position to Maitreya and the buddhas that appear before him.

[2] This is an epithet for Avalokitesvara, of whom the Karmapas are said to be an emanation of.
