People who speak of freedom and peace

All beings need equality and rights

The custom of eating each others' flesh

Consider whether it possesses the principles of truth and honesty

རང་གི་ཚེ་སྲོག་གཅེས་ཤིང་ཕངས་པ་ལྟར།།

Rang gi tshey sok chey shing phang pa tar

གཞན་གྱི་ཚེ་སྲོག་རང་དང་གཅིག་མཚུངས་ཡིན།།

Shen gi tshey sok rang dang chig tshung yin

དེས་ན་ཉམ་ཆུང་དུད་འགྲོའི་གཅེས་པའི་སྲོག།

Dey na nyam chung dü drö chey pay sok

ཡོད་ཚད་བཟའ་བར་རུང་ངམ་མི་བུ་ཚོ།།

Yö tshey sa war rung ngam mi bhu tsho

Just like you consider your own life to be dear and valuable

The lives of others are the same as your own

Thus, considering the life that is precious for these innocent creatures

Would it be alright to consume all they have?

སྡུག་གི་སྨྲེ་ངག་འདོན་པ་བཟོད་ནུས་སམ།།

Duk gi me ngag dön pa sö nü sam

In the slaughterhouse, in an ocean of boiling deep-red blood

The life which is so precious for these kind and innocent mothers

Is cut-off at their necks by a blade

Could you endure the wails of suffering caused by such pain?

འདི་ནི་ཉམ་ཆུང་དུད་འགྲོའི་མགྲིན་ཚབ་ཡིན།།

Di ni nyam chung dü drö drin tshab yin

འདི་ནི་རྣམ་དག་སེམས་ཀྱི་བདེན་གཏམ་ཡིན།།

Di ni nam dak sem kyi den tam yin

འདི་ནི་ལྷག་བསམ་གཙང་མའི་འབོད་སྐུལ་ཡིན།།

Di ni lhak sam tsang may bö kül yin

འདི་ནི་འཚེ་མེད་ཞི་བདེའི་ལམ་སྟོན་ཡིན།།

Di ni tshey mey shi dey lam tön yin

This is speaking-up for the innocent creatures

This is the truth of a pure-heart

This is an urgent cry for pure intentions

This is what shows the way for peace and non-violence

Note: This is just a really beautiful song that touched me deeply and so I am grateful to be able to share my translation with everyone. There is a partial translation of the first couple of verses already available on the video's Youtube page but I wanted to create a complete version so that others could appreciate the song in its entirety, as it is very moving and powerful. Translating the title of this song was interesting, because it literally says "The Food of Life" with ཚེ་སྲོག་ (tshey sok) meaning 'life' or more literally 'life-force/vitality"; but translating it literally in English would not convey the meaning so well, which is clearly about the act of eating living beings, which is why I went with "Consuming Life" as a much more appropriate rendering of the title. I hope that my translation of this song conveys the original meaning and feel of the Tibetan lyrics, which, again, I found so deeply moving. ཨྃ་མ་ཎི་པདྨེ་ཧྰུྃ།།
