This world, samsara,
Is like the tip of a needle -
Moments of happiness

The essence of dharma is the bodhisattva -

Than count manis with a wicked one.

Notes: Here we have a very beautiful folk song about being kindhearted offset with a rather intense rap breakdown (most likely performed by her brother). But what could exemplify modern Tibetan music more than that! There was one major difficult with the translation of this folk song. That was the "ཅུང་ཟད་ཉི་མ་འདྲ" which literally means "like a little bit of sun" - something the happiness in samsara is supposed to be like. Since the literal translation is not so clear as to what it means, I decided to translate it as "like the setting sun." I felt this fit well with samsara being like a needle since the happiness is minimal and followed by suffering. Another slightly problematic bit was ས་དང་ལམ. This could mean two things; in a dharmic context this would mean "the bhumis and the paths" or in a more general sense it would simply means "places and paths." I opted for the latter given its a folk song and adjusted "places" to "surroundings." Another discrepancy I came across was the difference between  བྱང་ཆུབ་སེམས་དཔའ and བྱང་ཆུབ་སེམས་པ which both occur in the song. Initially I thought the first referred to bodhisattvas while the second referred to bodhicitta. However, my teacher later explained that they are two different spellings for bodhisattva. He said there is actually something of a small debate around this based on the it being a translation from Sanskrit.
